How Gigz Labs Inc. collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use the Gigz app and services.
Last Updated: June 15, 2026
We collect information in three ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically as you use the Service, and information from your device with your permission.
When you create an account, we collect your name (including first, middle, and last name), email address, phone number, and account credentials. You may also add a profile photo and a short bio. Workers provide additional profile information such as work experience, skills, and the service categories they offer.
To keep the platform safe and qualified, Workers may submit verification materials, including: certifications and certificate documents (for example, SmartServe or forklift certification), photos of tools and equipment, training and exam results, and tier or badge eligibility information. This information is reviewed by Gigz and used to determine which jobs a Worker is eligible for.
With your permission, we collect precise (GPS) location information from your device. We use location to match Workers with nearby jobs and Customers, to display jobs and workers on a map, to calculate estimated arrival times, and to provide live tracking during an active job.
For Workers, if you grant "Always" location permission, we may collect location in the background while you are available for work or travelling to an active job, so that Customers can see your progress and estimated arrival. You can change or withdraw location permission at any time — see Location Data & Your Controls.
We collect information about the jobs you post, accept, or complete, including job type, job location and address, schedule, duration, price and price breakdown, status, estimated arrival times, route information, ratings, reviews, tips, refunds, and any disputes or support cases related to a job.
Messages may be reviewed by automated systems and our administrative team for safety and dispute resolution. We also retain records of support requests, reports, and disputes you submit.
When payment features are active, payments and Worker payouts are handled by third-party payment processors. These processors collect and process your payment card or bank account details directly. Gigz does not store full payment card numbers on its own systems; we retain limited transaction records (such as amounts, dates, and job references) needed to operate the Service.
With your permission, we access your device camera and photo library so you can upload a profile photo, submit verification photos and documents, or attach photos to a report or dispute. We only access photos you choose to provide.
We automatically collect technical information about how you access and use the Service, including device type and model, operating system and version, app version, unique device identifiers, push notification tokens, in-app activity, and diagnostic and crash data. This helps us operate the Service, fix problems, and improve the app.
We use the information we collect to:
Create and manage your account, and verify Worker eligibility;
Match Customers with nearby, qualified Workers and operate the marketplace;
Enable maps, routing, live tracking, and estimated arrival times;
Facilitate communication between Customers and Workers;
Process payments, payouts, tips, refunds, and related transactions;
Our administrative team may review user activity, including job records, chat messages, and reports, for safety, compliance, and dispute resolution purposes;
Arrange optional Worker transportation through our rideshare partners (see How We Share Your Information);
Send push notifications, service updates, and — where permitted — promotional messages;
Provide customer support and resolve disputes;
Monitor for, detect, prevent, and address fraud, safety issues, policy violations, and technical problems;
We calculate and store performance metrics, including on-time rates, completion rates, and reliability scores, which influence which workers we offer jobs to;
Analyze usage to maintain, improve, and develop the Service; and
Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We collect, use, and disclose personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, and we obtain your consent where required by law.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the circumstances described below.
When a Customer and a Worker are matched for a job, we share the information needed to complete that job — for example, name, profile photo, phone number, ratings, the job location and address, and live location during an active job. This lets the two parties coordinate and complete the work.
We share information with trusted third-party companies that help us operate the Service, including cloud hosting and database providers, mapping and location providers, app infrastructure and push notification providers, email delivery providers, and payment processors. These providers may only access the information needed to perform services for us, and we require them to protect your information and to use it only for the purposes of providing services to us.
If you use Ride Assist — our optional feature that arranges transportation for a Worker to reach a job site — we share limited information with our rideshare partners (such as Uber and Lyft) solely to arrange the ride. This typically includes the Worker's first and last name, contact number, the pickup location, and the destination job site. We also receive trip status updates, completion confirmation, and receipt details back from the rideshare partner. We share only what is necessary to arrange and track the ride. The rideshare partner handles the ride under its own terms and privacy policy.
We may disclose information when we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or government request; to enforce our Terms of Service; to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Gigz, our users, or the public.
If Gigz is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and of any choices you may have.
Gigz Labs Inc. is based in Canada. However, some of our service providers — including our cloud hosting, database, and infrastructure providers — store and process information on servers located in the United States and potentially other countries.
This means your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in jurisdictions outside of Canada, and may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including lawful access by courts, law enforcement, and government authorities. We take steps to ensure that information transferred outside Canada receives a comparable level of protection through contractual and other safeguards. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. After your account is closed, we may retain certain information — such as job history, ratings, transaction records, communications, and dispute records — for a longer period where necessary to meet legal, accounting, tax, safety, or fraud-prevention obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements.
When information is no longer required for these purposes, we securely delete or anonymize it.
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, secure authentication, role-based access controls, and regular security reviews. We limit access to personal information to people who need it to operate the Service.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account or information has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
Correct — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
Delete — request deletion of your account and personal data (see Account Deletion);
Withdraw consent — withdraw your consent to certain processing, such as location collection or marketing messages, recognizing this may limit your ability to use parts of the Service;
Opt out of marketing — unsubscribe from promotional communications at any time;
Manage device permissions — control location, camera, photo, and notification access through your device settings; and
Complain — challenge our handling of your information and, if unsatisfied, contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in the Contact Us section. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Location is central to how Gigz works, so we want to be clear about it. We only collect location data with your consent, granted through your device's permission prompts.
While using the app — we use your location to show nearby jobs and Workers, calculate distances and arrival times, and power maps.
In the background (Workers only) — if you grant "Always" permission, we collect location while you are available for work or en route to an active job so Customers can see your progress. We do not track your background location when you are off duty.
Your control — you can change location permission to "While Using," "Ask Next Time," or "Never," or disable it entirely, at any time in your device settings. Turning off location will limit core features of the Service.
With your permission, we send push notifications for job offers and updates, messages, arrival alerts, account and safety information, and — where permitted — promotional messages. You can manage notification preferences within the app's settings or disable notifications entirely through your device settings.
You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data directly within the app. Open the app, go to the Privacy Policy or Settings area, and select "Delete Account & Erase All Data." You may also request deletion by contacting us using the details in the Contact Us section.
When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information, except for limited records we are required or permitted to retain as described in Data Retention (for example, transaction records and dispute history retained for legal and fraud-prevention purposes).
The Service is intended only for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
The Service relies on third-party providers to function. These currently include:
Google / Firebase — authentication, database, cloud storage, hosting, and backend infrastructure;
Google Maps Platform — maps, geocoding, routing, and distance/time estimates;
Expo — app infrastructure and push notification delivery;
Email delivery providers — sending transactional emails such as password resets and account notices;
Stripe — processing payments and Worker payouts when payment features are active;
Rideshare partners (Uber, Lyft) — arranging optional Worker transportation through the Ride Assist feature.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing its handling of information. We encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third-party services.
Gigz complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation in Canada. We are accountable for the personal information in our control, we identify the purposes for collection, we obtain consent where required, we limit collection and retention to what is necessary, and we provide individuals with access to their information and a way to challenge our practices.
If you access the Service from outside Canada, you understand that your information will be handled as described in this Policy, including transfer to and processing in Canada, the United States, and other countries. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under your local laws; contact us and we will work with you to honour applicable rights.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service, our practices, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer. You can also use the "Contact Support" feature inside the Gigz app.
